Air Quality Conformity
The MACC is the designated air quality planning agency for the Holland/Zeeland metropolitan area. Acting on this designation, MACC works with local governments and the state of Michigan regarding air quality rules and implementation.
Transportation conformity provisions of the Clean Air Act Amendments require metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) make a determination that the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and projects conform to the State Implementation Plan (SIP), and that regional emissions will not negatively impact the region’s ability to meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).
Clean Air Program
Our office also helps with organizing the West Michigan Clean Air Coalition. The Clean Air Action! program encourages citizens, businesses, local governments, etc. to take voluntary actions to help reduce ozone and particulate forming emissions on Clean Air Action Days.
