Anyone can participate in Green Commute Week! If it helps with motivation, maybe get a small team together and add up “green” miles together!
Step 1: Register as an individual or local group.
Step 2: Pick up your Green Commute Pin to take advantage of discounts around town!
Step 3: Track your miles. This helps us know how much pollution we are all keeping out of the air! Eligible commutes can be made by walking, riding your bike, carpooling with friends, riding the bus, telecommuting, driving a fully electric car, etc.
Step 4: Share your progress with us and keep up to date on what’s going on during the week!

During Green Commute Week local businesses in the Holland-Zeeland area participate in the commute challenge. Categories are determined by the number of employees. Mini (2-10), Small (11-50), Medium (51-150), and Large (+150). The employer with the highest participation in their category is declared the winner!
Step 1: Register and let us know who you’re competing with
Step 2: Pick up your Green Commute Pin from your employer (We’ll make sure pins are available in your office before Green Commute Week starts!)
Step 3: This depends on how your employer wants you to keep track of your miles. Many companies have their employees use our online mile tracker, others want employees to report their miles directly to someone in the office, check with your team lead on this! If you happen to be the cheerleader for your company, make sure your co-workers know where to report their miles.

Each employer participant has to Green Commute at least two days during the week (this can be to or from work, out to lunch, or even personal errands around town) and record their miles. For an added perk, anyone who preregisters can receive a Green Commute Pin that makes them eligible to receive discounts at restaurants and bike shops, as well as win prizes.
