Remembering David Van Ginhoven

The MACC is saddened by the loss of David Van Ginhoven. David joined the MACC Executive Committee in April 2016 and served as Chair of the MACC Policy Board since October 2018. More recently, David also served as the MACC’s interim Executive Director from October 2019-February 2020. His wise, thoughtful, quiet leadership and calm, positive demeanor will be greatly missed. Our staff appreciated how he took time to sit with each one of us not only to talk about our jobs, but to get to know us. David always asked very thought provoking questions about our career paths and goals. With deepest gratitude, we thank you for your service to the MACC and this community.

Aren’t Better Roads Worth 10 Minutes of Your Time?

We all know Michigan’s roads, bridges, and highways need some TLC. With the persistent freeze-and-thaw cycle, summer heat and road deicing, Michigan’s infrastructure takes a beating.

By filling out the census, you can ensure that the Holland/Zeeland area receives vital funding to maintain these vital systems. Take 10 minutes to complete the census at my2020census.gov today; your car will thank you!

2020 Macatawa Water Festival

The 2020 Macatawa Water Festival will look and feel a little different this year. The typical event at Windmill Island has been canceled due to concerns over COVID-19. In it’s place, Water Festival partners will hold both virtual and in-person events from July 11-17. Details are still being worked out, but you can view the schedule of activities on the ODC Network’s website and Facebook page:

As part of Water Festival, the MACC will partner with ODC Network to host a river cleanup on July 11, 10am-noon at Dunton Park (290 Howard Ave, Holland). Depending on the group size, there may be a crew on the shores of the lake and another in kayaks in the lake. Anyone under 16 years old must be with an adult. All boats, paddles and life vests will be provided. Meet at the lower parking lot near the boat launch. All equipment will be provided including disposable gloves, masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes. We ask that participants wear masks while gathered at the start of the event as we get everyone registered and pass out equipment. We will provide bottled water, but we ask that if you can, please bring your own water and any snacks you may need. A health screening form will be required to be filled out before participating in the program.
