Between Tuesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 17, 2018, schools throughout the Holland-Zeeland area are invited to a two-day Green Commute School Challenge to recognize students who Green Commute to school! Schools should pick two of the days that work best for them, we suggest promoting Tuesday and Wednesday at your school and using Thursday as a rain backup date in case of bad weather. Green Commuting is as easy as walking, biking, sharing a ride with a friend, taking the school bus, or taking the MAX bus to school.
The 2017 School Challenge Winner was West Ottawa’s Lakewood Elementary!
When teachers take attendance, they will record how their students arrived at school. Tally sheets for the two days can be emailed to Elisa at email@example.com. At the end of the week, we’ll identify the local school with the highest percentage of students who used active transportation (rather than asking an adult to drive them to school).
For more information on how it works and to sign your school up contact Elisa at firstname.lastname@example.org.
