Urban Water Quality

urban_runoffUrban areas within the Macatawa Watershed generate runoff during rain events, runoff that can carry pollutants off of driveways, parking lots, roads, and lawns, into storms drains that eventually lead to Lake Macatawa. There are many actions that urban landowners, including homeowners, schools, businesses, and municipalities, can do to protect Lake Macatawa starting right in their own backyard. They include actions related to impervious surface management, lawn care, sustainable gardening techniques and the use of natural landscaping.
