Fish-Friendly Car Wash Kits

Charity car washes are great ways to support local youth. However, they have the potential to unintentionally pollute our lakes and streams if dirty wash water goes into the storm drains. Storm drains carry water and whatever is in it directly to our lakes and streams. If it is polluted with things like dirt, brake dust and soap, it can negatively impact the aquatic habitat. The good news is that there are ways to help protect water quality when holding a charity car wash. The MACC has three Fish-Friendly Car Wash kits available for local groups to borrow. Below is an instructional sheet and video for how to use the kits. A big thanks to Carl VanFaasen, Holland Public Schools, for helping the MACC put all of this together!
