Volunteers Needed for Macatawa Water Festival

The 2016 Macatawa Water Festival is Saturday, July 9, 9am-12:30pm, at Windmill Island Gardens. Many volunteers are still needed to help with various aspects of the Festival including setup, assisting with activities and tear down. Shifts are divided so that you can volunteer and still have time to enjoy the festival. We have a great line up this year with kayaking, canoeing, biking, fishing and many fun learning activities. Please join in the fun by volunteering for the 2016 Macatawa Water Festival!

MACC to Start Road-Stream Crossing Inventory

Culvert in Zeeland on the Brower Drain
The MACC recently received a grant from the Great Lakes Commission to conduct a road-stream crossing inventory in the Macatawa Watershed. Funds allow us to purchase the necessary equipment and cover some staff time to get the program going. Our goal is to conduct inventories at 55 locations by May 2017. Project Partners include the Ottawa and Allegan County Road Commissions, the Ottawa County Water Resources Commissioner, and the Allegan County Drain Commissioner.
We anticipate scheduling a couple inventory days per month starting in July and going through October. Additional days will be scheduled next spring, April and May, as needed.
If you are interested in helping with these inventories, contact the MACC office to be added to the volunteer list: 395-2688 or
