What is Green Commute Week?

Green Commute Week is a community-wide celebration of sustainable transportation in the Holland and Zeeland areas. By moving together towards greener options, we can make a bigger impact than we ever could alone.

Every day during Green Commute Week, you can visit our website to log your green commute miles. Each time you log, you’ll be entered into a random drawing for one of our many prizes. So, the more days you participate, the more chances you have to win!

Sustainable commuting is more than just an individual choice. It’s about creating a culture of shared responsibility and collective action. When we choose to bike, walk, carpool, or take public transportation, we’re not only reducing our own impact, but we’re also…

Building Community Through Sustainable Transportation

Building stronger connections: Chatting with neighbors on the bus, joining a bike/walk/run club, or organizing carpools can foster new friendships and a sense of belonging.

Improving public health: Active commuting reduces the risk of chronic diseases and promotes a healthier lifestyle.

Creating safer streets: Fewer cars on the road mean safer streets for everyone, especially children and pedestrians.

Supporting a vibrant local economy: When we choose sustainable transportation, we often spend more time and money in our local businesses.

Fostering equity and inclusivity: We recognize that not everyone has access to a personal vehicle. By supporting and utilizing public transportation and alternative modes of commuting, we create a more equitable and connected community for all.
