Under member direction and support, MACC staff developed a pavement rating system for over 200 miles of area sidepaths (often referred to as shared use paths, bike paths, multi-use paths, or trails). Our inaugural rating took place in 2024. These sidepaths are generally located within a road right-of-way and run parallel to the roadway. We developed a 1-6 rating system for the pavement condition, with 1 being the poorest condition and 6 being the best condition. Path owners are using this data to help them make calculated decisions in regards to path maintenance. We will be conducting the ratings every other year.
